Come fly with me, come fly let's fly-fly away! Aircraft, and indeed anything that is capable of flight is an embodiment of motion. Motion, that has surpassed all known scales of distance, bringing continents closer than they have ever been.

Looking directly up to the sky, a single aircraft flies low overhead having just taken off nearby. The plane is framed on either side by the bright green foliage of the tropical trees. The sky is pale blue, and lightly clouded.

Twilight has arisen, and the busy streets of Bristol are alive with road traffic. A red double decker bus zooms through the frame, its features a blur of motion against the backdrop of the Wills Memorial Building tower acting as the distant focal anchor.

The top deck of the Brooklyn Bridge extends forward holding the cars as they zoom by below. The headlights streaking past convey the motion of the scene. In the distance the focal point is directed to one of the bridge's towers, the lights of tall buildings in Brooklyn complete the scene in the distance.

When dark skies encroach, opportunities for long exposures abound. Tracked, or static. The contrast between the streaks of light across the scene against the dark is a great way to convey urgency in the frame. Whether as cars zoom across the Brooklyn Bridge, or market goes mill through the busy stalls.

A bustling covered night market in Thailand extends forward, lined on both sides by stalls selling a myriad of food. The market is busy, the people moving through the scene a blur, conveying the animation of the bustling space.

I've been asked why I like shooting scooters so much... It's simple really, two wheels is the cheapest, most accessible form of going faster, and further than anyone can under their own power. Particularly in Southeast Asia, these vehicles are an extension of their expression as well as transport.

Sport embodies the purest principle of motion. Of competing to be the best, propelling yourself under your own power.

A Lone martial observes the stream of open-water swimmers ahead of him. many of the swimmers are frozen in motion, arms outstretched above the water, streams of water rippling off their motion. A single swimmer's face can be seen, her face locked in determination.

Lusail International Circuit - Doha

The ultimate expression of mechanical speed, precision, and power. Formula 1, and Moto GP.

Two MotoGP riders, banked over mid-corder, completely focussed on the chase. The image is taken from a low perspective, almost parallel with the track level. The surrounding scene is a blur of motion, the contrasting purple of the track limits melting into the black tarmac.

Orange, white, red and purple are a smooth blur against the black asphalt of the track.

The scene is a blur across the start-finish straight from the grandstand. The seats are crowded with people cheering on the Moto2 riders on the track below. The riders are in focus, standing out against the environment as it rushes past them. Half the track is lit by the soft setting light against the shadow cast by the grandstands.

Istanbul Park Circuit - Istanbul

Five Formula1 cars sprint off the line during a wet opening lap. The spray kicking up a fine white mist plume behind their cars. The scene is framed by the spectators in the grandstand, standing, cheering and recording the spectacle unfold before them.

The scene shows the progression of the first lap following turn 1 into turn 2. The mid and rear-field cars have bunched up, while the front runners race ahead like a concertina. One Alpine car has cone off the track onto the runoff area. The increased water on the track in turn 2 creates a huge plume of water behind the cars racing ahead. On the inside of turn 2, every part of the grassy hill is filled with spectators standing in awe.

The world doesn't stand still. It's vibrant, full of life, and in constant Motion.

In this gallery I've placed of my favourite images that convey that movement. Whether that be through physical machinations of movement, sucha as airplanes or cars and bikes. Or through more abstract means, such as the implied motion from long exposure scenes. There's a lot of creative ways of capturing and conveying motion, I hope you enjoy some of my examples.
